Katherine
Anne "Katie" Couric is a
journalist the United States. She was born in
Arlington, Virginia, January 7, 1957. Her father was a public relations officer
and editor of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and United Press Washington DC
While her mother was a housewife and part-time writer. She married Jay Monahan
in 1989. She had two daughters. In 1988 her husband died at the age of 42 years
for colon cancer.

Couric’s journalist career was started in attending the
University of Virginia majoring in English and history. She graduated in 1979
and earned his degree in the field of American Studies. Couric began her career
in journalism after Stan Hooper accepted as a news assistant at ABC News bureau
in Washington D.C. In 1984-1986 she worked as a journalist at TV station WTVJ,
Miami, Florida. In 1988, she became a reporter for television station NBC-owned
WRC-TV in Washington, DC Couric became permanent anchor since 15 April 1991.
April 5, 2006 she accepted an offer as CBS news anchor CBS evening news.
Couric also received
several awards, including awards from the Associated
Press and Emmy Awards while working at WRC-TV. Couric assignment as a
news anchor for CBS Evening News made her to be the first woman to anchor the
evening news program on the previous working day always dominated by men. Katie
Couric is a first woman presenter for the
evening news program in America.
