Her full name is Magdalena Johanna Maria Veldhuis and she is called Marleen Veldhuis who was born in Borne, Overijssel,
Netherlands, on June, 29, 1979. She is known worldwide as a professional swimmer from Netherlands. Marleen
Veldhuis is recognized as a former water polo player that combined with
swimming, but then she focused on swimming completely.
She started her
swimming international debut in during the 2002
European
Aquatics Championships in Berlin. Then she created many championships
internationally.
She had created
world record holder in her capability. Her record, in
4 events (1 individual and 3 relay) had delivered her to won 6
world championships gold medals and 20 European
championships gold medals. And in the Olympics, as just what people expect, she
won two relay medals although it was less than what expected to. Those two
medals are bronze in
Summer Olympics in Athens 2004 and gold in Beijing 2008.
In April, 2009, Veldhuis broke records in shortening the time record of
25.46 seconds to 25.33 seconds that is recorded by Alshamamar in the Amsterdam Swimming Championship. And the latest of her
championship track record is that she won a gold medal at the 2011 World
Aquatics Championships or the 14th FINA
World Championships that held on July, 16-31 in Shanghai, China.
