Shakira is a singer,
musician, actress,
record producer and dancer
from Colombia. She was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, February 2, 1977
under the full name Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll. Shakira is famous for
rocking hips and a distinctive singing voice. She is also known to appear and
move barefoot. Shakira is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. She had a
relationship with Antonio de la Rua, son of the President of Argentina,
Fernando de la Rua.

Shakira released her
debut album, Magia (Magic) in 1991 when she was 15 years old. Though less
acclaimed debut album, she continued her profession as a singer. She was
re-released the album Peligro (Danger) 1993, and this was well-received.
However, she had a break from the music to finish school.
Shakira returned to the singing world by
releasing the album Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet) in 1996. Following the next
album Donde los ladrones están? (1998), MTV Unplugged (2000), Laundry Service /
Servicio de Lavanderia (2001), Live & Off the Record-En Vivo Y En Privado
(2004), Fijación Oral Vol. 1 (2005), Oral Fixation Vol. 2 (2005), She Wolf /
Loba (2009) and Sale El Sol (2010).
Shakira’s Awards
Shakira had won two Grammy
Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, and
twelve Latin Billboard Music Awards and was
nominated for a Golden Globe. Shakira is the only artist from South America which reached number one
on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, Australian ARIA charts and UK Singles
Chart.
