Katherine Mathilda Swinton is a British actress.
She is known with Tilda Swinton. She appeared in
many popular films including The Beach, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Curious
Case of Benjamin Button, Burn after Reading, The Deep End, in We Need to Talk
about Kevin (2011), and many others. The Deep End and We Need to Talk about
Kevin made her nominated for a Golden Globe Awards. And finally in 2007 she won
the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress
for the film titled Michael Clayton.

Swinton was born on November, 5, 1960. Swinton is a descendant of a rich
and respectable Anglo-Scots family. She has a degree in Social and Political
Sciences from Cambridge University.
Swinton’s career in acting started by working with the Traverse Theatre,
and in the mid 0f 1980s she started her career in film.
At first, she appeared in television miniseries in between 1986 – 1989. Then,
she appeared in many films which one by one made her name famous until she won
the Volpi Cup as Best Actress in a postmodern film titled Edward II in 1991.
Swinton is well-known through her mainstream
film such as The Deep End that brought her to Golden Globe Award
nomination. Her other mainstream films are such
as The Beach, Vanilla Sky, Gabriel in Constantine, The Statement, and Young
Adam. She appeared in more than 35 popular films. In this year, in early 2012,
she will appear again in her new film in Jim Jarmusch’s untitled vampire film.
