Susi
Susanti is legendary Indonesian badminton
athlete. She is the daughter of the best badminton player ever had in
Indonesia. Susie was born in Tasilmalaya, West Java, February 11, 1971 under
the name Lucia Francisca Susi Susanti. She married to Alan
Budikusuma, badminton athlete, and they got three children named
Laurencia Averina (1999), Albert Edward (2000), and Sebastianus Frederick
(2003).

Susi began her career in badminton championship in 1989 through
Indonesia Open championship. She also contributed to the Indonesian team title
Sudirman Cup that do not happen again until now. After that she ruled the world
women's badminton competition by winning the All England four times (1990,
1991, 1993, and 1994) and finally she became world
champion in 1993.
Susi was on top of her career
occurred in 1992, when she won the women's singles badminton at the 1992
Barcelona Olympics. She became the first gold medalist
for Indonesia at the Olympics. Interestingly, Alan Budikusuma also got the
men's singles champion. This fact then made foreign media dubbed them to be ' Olympic Wedding '.
In 2004, Susi was awarded the Hall Of Fame of the
International Badminton Federation. She also received an Honorary Star
Signs Main Services of the government of the Republic of Indonesia.
